As a director, trainer and senior leader, I think it’s really important to recognise that as a leader I don’t have all of the answers, some of the best solutions to our problems come from allowing our teams to be involved. They are far more informed and closer to the action that we are; which makes them ten times more likely to be able to find a solution to a problem.
The challenge that many organisations and leaders have with handing over problem solving to their teams; is the perceived loss of control in doing so and also concerns with whether the right solution will be developed. Empowering and involving your teams;, will ultimately increase their confidence and will ensure that whatever solution they come up with; will be made to work. You have not only involved them in the solution but, helped them to take ownership. Most initiatives in organisations fail, because the staff involved do not and will not accept responsibility.
